Well, promise not to laugh, but the first people I think of to invite to my home jewelry parties are the girls that invited me to their home party where I purchased make-up, plastic bowls, pampered turkey roasters,cleaning supplies and yes, even underwear! Don’t give me that shocked look! You know you all have been to that same party in your town probably not so long ago! What is the old saying about paybacks? There is a lot to learn at these types of parties about what works and what does not work as well. Next, I turn my thoughts to my closest friends and family.These guests love you and will be honored to help jump start your business and will also be easy to speak in front of at your gathering. Many of them will also help you prepare for your event by providing some of the refreshments or what ever your needs are that day! Nothing like a sweet mama or a fabulous girlfriend in times of need! Spread the word about your party with co-workers, church friends, neighbors, teachers and even your hairdresser! Think of girls that you do business with regularly and invite them along for a fun afternoon or evening party. A simple invitation delivered through the mail or by hand is the best. Encourage each guest you invite to bring a friend, as this will double your turn-out and make up for the girls who can not attend. Keep a list of each invited guest with their phone number or e-mail and follow up with them about a week before the party to make sure they received their invitation and give them a gentle reminder of the date! I like to use this time to let them know how glad you are that they will be attending and that you have many exciting things to show them at GREAT price points. Let’s begin the discussion and choose a date for YOUR home jewelry party! I can think of a million reasons to throw a party but when you can throw one and increase your income that makes it all the better, don’t you think? I like to plan mine around a gift giving holiday such as Valentine’s day, Mother’s day, and of course Christmas, but you can always choose a theme for your party when there is no holiday in sight and you are ready to get started! I suggested the other day to one of our customers that she host a party with the theme “cool summer fashion treats” and plan her refreshments around that theme. For example she could serve a tray of sliced fruits with some yummy fruit dip and then something really cold and refreshing like  a pasta salad and crackers. I like to serve punch at my gatherings because it is generally loved by everyone and seems special! I will share my favorite easy recipe later. Theme parties are great because you can make them fit for any time of year you want to begin your business. Take time to think about the guests you will be inviting and what day of the week works best for you and your potential customers. I have always leaned towards a Saturday evening party so I have time to finish last minute details during the day  and relax a little. Also this is a good time for a lot of moms to have a little time for themselves after ballgames and such for the kids. Try to stay clear of dates that might interfere with major events in your community like important sporting events or festivals. I think the worst time I tried to have an event was close to Thanksgiving. Women  just have to much to do in the days before Thanksgiving and I had very few guests. I was stressed out as well  trying to do all of that and get ready for that particular holiday.
